HOSPICE IS BUILT ON VOLUNTEERS
Hospice of Laurens County was founded by a group of volunteers that realized the need for end-of-life care in our community. Our volunteer program continues to be a significant part of our organization. Our success is a reflection of our volunteer involvement and dedication.
We have several defined areas where we currently utilize our volunteers, however, there are times when we need volunteers for other areas. Please let our volunteer coordinator know which area would be a good fit for you or if there are other areas in which you would like to serve.
- Patient Home Visitation - Volunteers visit patients/caregivers at their residence, 1-2 times per week. Visit are approximately one hour. The volunteers provide companionship, emotional support, help with errands and short-term caregiver respite.
- Hospice Thrift Stores - Volunteers help receive, sort and price merchandise. Volunteers also assist with customer service, merchandising, light housekeeping and other general retail tasks. Volunteers are also needed to assit with deliveries and pick-ups of donated/purchased items. THIS IS CURRENTLY OUR GREATEST AREA OF NEED.
- Bed Moving Team - Volunteers to pick-up and deliver hospital beds to patient homes.
- Administrative - Volunteers to assist in the adminstrative building or the hospice house with general administrative tasks - answering phones, preparing mailouts, greeting visitors, etc.
- Fundraising and special programs - We have several events throughout there year where we utilize our volunteers - Flight of the Dove, Jaime's Tree House, Butterfly Release Ceremony, etc.
- Watchman Program - Hospice of Laurens County's "eyes and ears" program in the community. Help those who could benefit from Hospice of Laurens County learn more about the services we offer.
- Cake Bakers - Volunteers bake cakes to celebrate patient and family birthdays, anniversaries, and other celebrations.
